Digital Mistletoe- I enjoyed reading this article. I thought it was really adorable how a man who was so alone and miserable found happiness using Facebook. it was nice to see that Facebook isn't just a tool to talk to people or read gossip, but to meet true love. I think he was lucky to have found that special person. Also, I think he was brave to actually make the attempt to talk to her.
In Defense Of Distraction- I think this writer has a point in trying to defend the advances in technology. It is true that jobs require the use of the Internet. We are so use to having the technology in our hand, I don't think we could live without it. I also agree with the fact on how we do rely to much on technology. I mean anytime we need to look something up, we don't use a book, we use the computer. It is like our lifesaver. Technology is advancing, we really can not put a stop to that, but I think we can help ourselves by not focusing on the computer so much. I think the write also poses a good question at the end of the article. I don't really know if we have adapted to technology at the same rate. I think we are behind, while technology itself is ahead.
Cellphones, Texts, and Lovers- I find this article to be weird. I don't think it is completely true. I find it disgusting on the part that people are using technology to hook-up with five different people during the same time. I think texting wasn't made for cheating, but to have conversation with more then one person at the same time. I do agree with the author on the fact that texting has gotten in the way of socialization. I don't think it is just cell phones, but technology in general.

Is Technology going to far?
On Thursday, we watched a video in class. The video talked about how technology had impacted our lives and how it has changed us. Technology has grown and we have grown along with it. The video was fine at first to watch, but then became weird.
During the first part of the video, it focused on students having the ability to supposedly being able to multitask. I found that these student, especially at MIT, couldn't multitask. The reason I believe this is because when the professor was talking and he mention that the mean average on the midterm was a 75, it was surprising. I think if students were focus just in the class and not on Facebook or email people, they could have gotten a better grade.
It was also amazing to see how these students were constantly on their electronics. I thought going out to dinner with you friends meant having a conversation with them, but I guess I am wrong. The students at MIT were going to dinner with friends, but really they were going to dinner with their cell phones. I find that really rude. I think those students have no self-control. I mean your with friends now, whatever is going on can wait.
The other part of the film that was strange was when they went to South Korea. In South Korea, the technology is so much worst. There are places were people could go and go on computers and play games. These people would spend most of their time on the computer, that some even died. That is crazy.
I also found surprising how South Korea took a step in trying to fix the problem. The government step up a camp. In this camp, students were sent to help get rid of their addiction to certain electronics, especially the computer. The students had to give up their phones for two weeks while staying at the camp. The students would attend meetings, like self-help groups. They would also do activities. I don't really think that going without certain electronics for two weeks would actually make a difference. I think it would just make you spend more time on the computer. I am glad to see that South Korea has started to think of way to solve the problem, but I don't think it is going to be that easy to solve.
It was interesting to see how South Korea was teaching the younger children the safe way to use computers, but I don' t really think this will work either. Children are small, so they tend to to do what they are told. When the children begin to grow, technology will be a huge part of their lives. I think teaching them how to use the computers safely is a good thing, but I really don't think it will work in the long run.
The last thing on the video talked about virtual world. This topic was strange. The part I found strange was the Second Life program. It was really weird. I think that technology is getting way to far. It is really weird having a virtual meeting on a computer screen, when all the employees are in the office any way. I find it weird that making avatars and having them speak for you in a computer is very strange. I understand that the virtual world system is good on communicating with people form other countries because you save a lot of money on traveling. I just don't get why meeting face to face isn't a better idea. I mean on a computer screen you can't tell how a person is feeling or even if they are acting sarcastically. You can only see the avatar. It's like they are playing with virtual dolls.
I really don't like the idea of the virtual world. I think technology is advancing to fast. I think communication was always best done face to face, especially if you in the same building. I have a feeling that technology is changing and will change socialization. It's sad to see how people are more entertained with people they have never met before because of playing games online. In the end, I think technology needs to slow down a bit.

Technology?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izCX7M5dcA0
I guess I am stronger then I thought. I actually lived without my iPod, but I guess now I am going to listen to it more then ever now. I am just glad that I will have my iPod back tomorrow. I guess what people say about the media is true. I mean now a days I don't think people could live without their phones, laptops, iPods, or television. We have gotten to use to technology that it has taken us over. I know I had a hard time without my iPod and that was only for three days. I don't think I could have gone a week or two without it. I don't think this is a good way of living. Technology has become a huge part in our lives, that if we ever lost it, who know if we would be able to survive.
Finally its over

Today is the last day of not having my iPod. I am pretty happy becuase I really need my music back especailly in my car. These few days of not hving my iPod, I have relized how important it is to me. I always wondered if I could live with the car radio again, and in a way I guess I could.
I think this project has helped me see how much I really do rely on my iPod, but it also allowed me to become more creative. It also allowed me to feel sad, mad, and happy at times. When going on a long drive with my friends, I was mad and so were they. Without my iPod, we had to come up with games to have a good time. It was fun to see how I could really live without my iPod. I know now that if I ever misplace my iPod or forget it, I can live without it.
It was fun to discover how hard it could be to not have your favorite and most valuable electronic with you, since your so use to it. Before my iPod, I was really bored of the car radio, that sometime I wouldn't listen to anything at old. I still know the radio is extermly boring, since it is always replaying song.
Anyway, breaking away from my iPod these few days wasn't so bad. I survived, but I don't think I would ever give up my iPod again especailly if my friends and I are go for a long drive. in the end, living without my iPod, made me become more creative and I found out it wasn't the end of the world.

missing the iPod

It's Sunday and the thrid day since I decided to give up my iPod. I thought this was going to be an easy thing to let go off, but it really isn't. Today, I took another trip with some friends. We went out east, and usaully we have fun listening to all different kinds of music, but today was so different.
At first, we were really bored because the radio kept playing the same songs over and over again. It became so boring. Then, we tried listening to cds, but it got annoying having to switch the cds all the time. My friends started to get really annoyed with me. They started to say, why can't you use your iPod. I tols them we have to live without it just for this weekend. So, with no good music playing, we were so bored. My friends couldn't stand being so bored, since it was a long drive. We started to tell stories and make up games. It ended up being a fun filled drive. I think if I did have my iPod, we would of had so much fun in the car.
I still miss my iPod, but I did enjoy finding out that without my iPod, my friends and I could become more creative and have a lot more fun on a drive. Even though my friends told me the next trip I have to bring my iPod, we all had a blast without it.

Goodbye iPod hello car radio
My iPod is my car radio; this means that I can plug it into my car and listen to whatever I want. Now that my iPod has been shut off for the time being, I feel a bit weird. I never relized how much I take my iPod for granted. Today, I went to watch my younger brother bowl, but the drive was long. I usually have my iPod to keep me company. I can just pick any song I feel like listening to, and hear it. Since today I had no iPod, I had to stick with the car radio. I've come to notice that listening to the radio is so boring. The radio either has commerical breaks or they replay the song over and over again. It tends to become very annoying. While driving today, I was annoyed that nothing good was playing. I started to miss my iPod. Then, I got some old cds, but it was annoying having to change them constanly because, I tend not to love every song. After playing around with my cds, I came to relize that my iPod is a really important part of me especailly because I can put any song and mix them up and listen to them all, without having to go throught the hassle of changing radio stations or cds. My iPod made my music life simplier. I miss it so much!!

snow
Since this weekend, we were suppose to get so much snow. I was glad that the storm missed us because whats the point of having snow with school. Now, its Tuesday, and were suppose to get hit with a another storm; this time it is suppose to hit us. At least if we get snow, hopefully it will be enough to cancel school. If its not then, theres no point for snow in the first place.
welcome
